FruitJuice - Battery Health App Reviews

Good Application

This is a really great Application. I like it a lot. But please change the MenuBar Icon. Only the awful black and white icon is uglier than the color icon. Please! How dare you? I would pay the 8€ again if you can change the icon.

Great insight into my battery’s health

I find FruitJuice really helpful to me because it is easy to tell when I’ve given my Retina MacBook Pro enough time on battery each day, and I believe that helps keep the battery “fresh”. The Power History graph is interesting too. I think it was worth my money.

Keeps me on my toes!

FruitJuice helps me remember to use my battery. It’s as simple as that. I’ve ruined batteries before by keeping them plugged in too long and I intend to keep this one healthier. At a year old, my battery still performs to 96% of its capacity.

Must Have for evey Mac user!

This app is must have for every Mac User. If You want to take care about Your battery in 100%, You have to use FruitJucie!

Does what it says, very well

This app does exactly what it says, especially the part about giving alerts for various battery-related events. This is why we bought it, to help with a discipline of keeping the battery in a sweet-spot range between 40-80% as recommended by some experts to prolong battery life. A little pricey for what it does, but thats ok too, because it DOES do what it says. This review is an "addendum" to my previous one, raising my rating to a full "5".

Great App, Fast Support on Issues

See my review on the previous version before this update. There was an issue with the app running the discrete graphics chip on the MBPr instead of the integrated chip. I contacted support and they were quick to respond and now this version fixed it. Great developer. Good communication and support. Also love the app. Just what I needed. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Great app for battery management

This app is easy to use and looks good. It really helps remind me to maintain my battery by running on battery and then recharging on an ongoing basis. The developers are responsive and helpful. Highly recommended!

Thanks!

I like this app it works really well and worth the price! The Mac Geek Gab Podcast is who told me about this app.

Corruption issue should be fixed on 10.9, developer very responsive

The developer tracked down the problem to an issue with how SQLite, the database backend, was writing data to the database, and it should be resolved in the next MAS release. It’s also resolved in the version on their site. The developer was very responsive and quick to fix the problem, and assuming FruitJuice continues to run with no more data issues, I’m happy to give a 5 star rating.

Whats Going On?

I bought this app a few months ago, was working fine. Now after the update its telling me that in order to use this I have to subscribe? Not cool. Worse, it cant find the subscription page. Im hoping this is a bug and not a $10 mistake.

Works well, but the icons are ugly

This application is very helpful and works very good for me. But the icons are really ugly, especially the newest version. I expect more beautiful and fit with Mac OS X icons in the future.

Excellent battery monitoring and maintenance

I’ve been using FruitJuice since version 1, and it keeps getting better. The % and time notifications are great reminders of the state of the battery and to plug and unplug to maximize battery life. The developers are very responsive and obviously care about the quality of the app.

First time user

I just got a new laptop battery so I figured now was a good time to try this app out. So far it is great. I expect my new battery to far outlast the old one. If I bought this app sooner perhaps my old battery would still be around!

Truly a Battery Saver

I started using FruitJuice when my mid-2009 MacBook Pro started reporting the battery needed to be serviced. I had about 70% capacity left, so the battery wasn’t gone, but I wanted to hold on until I could get a new laptop. Thanks to FruitJuice, I got the battery back up to 80% (sometimes a bit more) after a few weeks of following FruitJuice’s guidance. Truth be told, it was my own fault. When I started working from home, it became too easy to leave my MBP plugged in all of the time. When I got my new MBPr, FruitJuice was the first app I installed. My battery started at 106% of capacity and I’m confident FruitJuice will keep it healthy.

Since 2.2.8 update, no longer get low battery notifications

I’m a longtime user and true fan of Fruitjuice, but…. Since the most recent update, I rarely get low battery notifications (the primary reason I have Fruitjuice). Once in a blue moon, yes, but more often than not, I find out the battery is low when the laptop goes dark, into shutdown mode. If this is fixed in the next iteration, I’d happily bump my review back up to five stars.

Battery Life Improved

I am on a 2014 MBP Retina. My battery capacity had gone to the mid 90% range. Using this app and following the suggested battery times as closely as I can each day, my battery capacity has improved to 103% of original design capacity. I have verified that with Coconut Battery app as well. This app really works and does what it advertises. Worth the money and cheaper than new batteries.

Well worth the price

Although $9.99 seems like a lot in today’s world (but not if you remember paying $39.99 for shareware apps in the past), FruitJuice is a great buy. I’ve been using it for over a year now, and my battery life has *improved* significantly. The app works well. It simply tells you how much longer each day you need to keep your laptop unplugged for optimal battery life. That’s it.

Pleased how it’s helped me keep my battery in good shape

I always seem to go through batteries like a hog goes through dinner, but with FruitJuice, the battery on my Retina MBP that’s several years old now is doing just fine. Super-useful!

Great program - well worth the price

Im on my third Apple laptop and have typically had problems with batteries in my laptop computers. Over the years, I have become more battery savvy but, until recently, still have had issues with battery life not being what it should. I found this app when I installed a new battery in my 2008 MacBook Pro about a year and a half ago. Having this app has made a world of difference. After 113 battery cycles I still have nearly 98% of the original capacity of my battery. Comparing my battery performance to others via Coconut Battery Online reveals that my battery is performing much better than expected at this point in its life. The gentle reminders provided by this app help to ensure that I am using my battery properly. It’s become something that I rely on to ensure that my computer is working properly. Highly recommended!

An essential and excellent app!

I am using this app on an old MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) after replacing the battery once and this app has certainly helped to regain some battery health (from 94 % to back 96 %). I wish I had found this app a lot sooner. This app is probably the first thing one should install after getting a new Mac Laptop for optimal battery health.
